Friday AM Focus: The Master's Will

September 30, 2010 11:46 by DanJ

"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."

Luke 12:47-48

Father as Your Church we pray to know Your will. And with that prayer, we acknowledge the responsibility to do what You are asking. Not to be deaf, out of fear, hearing but not understanding, like the man who buried the coins. Not to be blind, stepping away from the mirror, and forgetting what our face looked like.

Lord we pray for Your courage through the power of the Holy Spirit to pour through us and to do what we have been told to do.  Please give us an understanding heart and a steadfast mind and the strength to do Your work here on the earth!

Friday Prayer for Israel - 8:30 AM : Isaiah 49:5-6

September 30, 2010 9:48 by Roger

"Father, it is a great thing to serve you.  This strong Word of Messiah's life and work stirs our hearts deeply.  We say, Amen, make it so Lord!   But more, are we not called to do all that Christ did?  So Lord, we also seek the restoration of "the preserved ones of Israel" and acknowledge that we also are "the light of the world"  Did you not call us to bring Jacob back to You, in order that Israel might be gathered to You?  You are our strength and our delight.  Thank you for such a noble calling.  Grant us faithfulness to persist in prayer for Israel.  Grant us Holy Spirit help in praying.  Even grant witnessing opportunities to us here in this place to sons and daughters of Israel who You know to be "the preserved ones of Israel" ."

Thursday AM Focus: The God Who does a new thing.

September 29, 2010 9:56 by Roger

Isaiah 43:19 says, "Behold,  I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it?..."

Our God is the The God of new things.  He makes us to be a new creation.  He made a new covenant with us in His own blood.  Through it He has made both Jew and Gentile into one new man.  He has issued us a new commandment.   He has written a new name for you upon a white stone.  There will come a day when He will make a new heaven and a new earth.   Until then, we will sing to Him a new song.

When Jesus Christ changed the Passover supper into something new, it took a while for his jewish followers to grasp the significance.  When He changed Judaism into Christianity, the religious from the old order became threatened and angry.  Change can be hard.

This week I attended our denomination's district conference.  I was encouraged and delighted by what I heard.  God is willing to change how we "do church" in some places for the purpose of reaching lost people that would not normally come to our more traditional church services.  I was happy to hear how our denomination was willing to change its structure to allow "some new way" of communicating the never changing gospel of God's love for mankind demonstrated on the cross of calvary.

There are brave churches in our own town, who have started new churches in the last few years.  These churches are reaching new people because they are willing to cooperate with the God Who does new things.  In our ever changing world, can we, from more traditional churches, celebrate and support these newest churches in our town?  Can we love them as a new brother?

"Lord Jesus, grant to our brothers and sisters in our newest churches, greater effectiveness in ministry as they follow You in doing a "new" thing in how ministry looks.  Save to the uttermost those who are being added to the church every day.  And Lord, help us to be willing to change our way of looking at non-churched people.  Help us to see them as You do.  Help us to do whatever we can to reach them.  Amen."

September 27, 2010 9:34 by Ivy

How amazing are your deeds LORD!  Everything You do reveals your glory and majesty! We praise you Lord! Blessed are those who fear you, yes, blessed are those who delight in doing what you command. Give us, the families of the Mid-Willamette valley, a heart that delights in fearing and obeying you. You say that our children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. Lord when darkness overtakes us may your light come bursting in. Help us to be generous, compassionate, and walk in righteousness so that all will go well as we lend freely and conduct our business fairly. You say that such people will not be overcome by evil circumstances thank you! Build our confidence in trusting you who cares for us. Make us confident and fearless able to face our foes triumphantly. Grant us influence and honor in our land amen!

Tuesday Evening: Your Kingdom Come

September 27, 2010 8:18 by Vicki

Father, we acknowledge that your ways are better than ours. You are the one who holds our life, our families, our city and our nation in the palm of your hand. We do seek you for our daily needs and for protection from the evil one knowing that you will preserve us and lead us in all our ways. As we pray for the Willamette Valley tonight would you help us personally and as the “church” to represent you well? To be doers of the word and not hearers only, to take care of the widow and the orphan and Love our neighbors as ourselves…

Help us to purposefully look for ways to be a “city on a hill”.

To you be all Glory.

Amen

Monday AM Focus: Perfected in Unity

September 27, 2010 12:28 by DanJ

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." John 17:20-23

Lord, it is through our message of belief that we will have unity. Help our belief to be stronger. Please protect your bride the church from those things that would weaken us. Gaurd us dear Lord from the traps of this world. We thank you for your provision to the church of a faith that will keep us well and in that wellness we will gain strength and in that strength we will have unity.  We need your Holy Spirit to clear the way for us Lord. Thank you for your protection and the wonderous love you provide.

Friday Prayer for Israel - 8:30 AM

September 24, 2010 6:26 by Roger

Please pray Isaiah 29:17-24.   "Lord, you spoke of 'just a little while' before Israel would know the truth and accept instruction.  There is no greater truth than the One who said, 'I AM the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by Me'. Let all Israel not be ashamed, let him call upon the One who has the name 'Faithful and True' written on His thigh..  Lord, let it be 'just a little while' now before all Israel shall be saved according to your faithful promise.   Make it so."
