Father, there are many in our community and beyond who have physical pain, emotional trauma, afflictions of many kinds. We come to you, Father, asking that you give them comfort, relief, hope, and free them from their pain.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

 

Heavenly Father help us your Bride to love like You do, to forgive selflessly, to become and do all that you would have for us to do.The greater community, our families, schools and work places, needs to see more of our love demonstrated. Help us, we are desperate for You to have your way fully in, around, above, behind each one of us called by your name.

Arise and protect MSI and the work you have given them in Puerto La Plata and Mike's time in Brazil. Cause the schemes of the enemy to perish. So the priest gave him the consecrated bread, since there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence that had been removed from before the LORD and replaced by hot bread on the day it was taken away. 1 Samuel 21:6 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat. But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, "Look, Your do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath. But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions, how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? "Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? "But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here.  "But if you had known what this means, 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' would not have condemned the innocent.  Matt 12:1-7

 

Lord You desire compassion over sacrifice. The concern for saving and helping others over things that appear sacred. Teach us real faith Lord. To care for those around us more than the most beautiful and sacred of symbols.

Friday Prayer for Israel - 8:30 AM - For a future and a hope

Monday was Holocaust remembrance day.  Martin and Norma Sarvis share these prayer requests:

     *For revelation that the Word of the LORD in Jeremiah 29:11 is still alive and ringing, specifically and first of all for His people Israel— “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

     *For a massive awakening of desire in Israel to put her trust in the LORD rather than in her leaders and military strength (Psalm 118:8-9; 33:16-17).

     *For the estimated 208,000 elderly Holocaust survivors living in Israel today.  These have often, because of what they have experienced and seen, been bound by the accuser into a hardened darkness,  Pray that the true Light which pierces the deepest darkness (John 1:5,9) will shine into their hearts—drawing them in Love to a life in which they have long since ceased to believe.

     *For a breaking in Israel of any ‘identity’ related to the extent of our persecution in the past.  Pray that while learning what we can from the past, we will begin to focus more on the future—and what God’s Word tells us about it.

     *Psalm 25:22: “Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.”

Thursday AM Focus - Why do you call me 'Lord'?

Jesus said, "The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good;  and the evil (man) out of the evil (heart) brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from the abundance of his heart.  And why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord', and do not do what I say?"  Luke 6:45-46.

 

I was driving through downtown on my way to HOPC today (Wednesday).  I was talking with the Lord and thinking about all that I desire.  I truly felt that "nothing I desire compares to You", Lord; and that none of those other things really mattered if I could hear Your voice more plainly, and confidently know Your will.  I rounded the corner by the train station and saw those two men living under the bridge.  The words came immediately into my head, "Go buy them some breakfast".   I immediately dismissed it as my own thought.  Then, the Lord asked this question, "Did you not just a second ago ask for a plainer hearing of My voice?"  It was not hard to drive through McDonald's for two breakfast sandwiches and coffees.  It was a small thing.   I was only about 7 minutes late to the HOPC session.

 

But the whole thing got me thinking.  I wonder how many times the Lord has told me to do something and I have blown Him away, not recognizing His voice?   How is your heart condition?   I think its probably pretty good.  It's not that you are beligerent, or rebellious, or hard and cruel.  No.  I think you are probably in my situation.  Wanting to do good, but missing the very opportunity ordained by God, to make a difference in someone's life.

 

I think that if I truly want to gain effectiveness in prayer, I have to become a better listener.  And, of course, I must then "do what He says".

2 Samuel 5:24 As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”

Nehemiah 4:20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!”

Ezekiel 3:12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound as the glory of the LORD rose from the place where it was standing.

Acts 2:6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.

Father, give us listening ears, attentive hearts, and great desire to hear what You are saying to us, to obey quickly, and to respond fully to all you desire to do in our valley. Be glorified in Your Church in this generation!

This week Mike goes to Brazil to revisit a city he had pastored in thirty years ago and see if there is a possibility for a festival there. 

Father I ask that you would go before Mike and assist him as he redigs old wells of friendship, old wells of your spirit flowing in that place and would you cause refreshing to come to your people, for salvation to spring forth and for the healing balm of your presence to minister life to all who are thirsty and in need.  Thank you for your plans for them and thank you for your servant Mike's obedience to go.  Bless him in Jesus's name.
