Tuesday AM Prayer Focus: The Word of God

January 30, 2012 10:32 PM by Diane

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Dear God, thank You for Your word. It is unlike any other. As we receive it into ourselves, set it free to go deep into our thoughts and the intent of our hearts. Change us and make us into the people we were created to be.  Amen.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: No More Tears

January 29, 2012 8:55 PM by Diane

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Revelations 21:4

Dear God, we look forward with eager anticipation to the time when there is no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain. Currently You comfort and strengthen us during our difficult times but the heartache we endure is a reality. What a glorious time it will be when we are free to worship You in the splendor of Your majesty without the burdens of this life. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Topic: Awaken and Pray

January 26, 2012 10:29 PM by DanJ

When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”  Luke 22:45-46

Praise Your Holy Name... Jesus.  You are such an example to us of one who prayed.  You prayed to the Father when You were joyful, You prayed to the Father when You were in sorrow.  You prayed to the Father that those around You would have strength.  Thank You for the Word, Your gospel that shows us how to live.  We Your church pray that we will never foget about how important it is to pray.  Inspire us Jesus.  Light our heart to burn with fire for You and the simple truth of living out our Christian lives through prayer.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Let all see Christ and believe in Him

January 25, 2012 10:04 PM by Roger

Jesus said, "For this is the will of My Father, that every one who beholds the Son, and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."   John 6:40

Father, please grant to me (and to all Christians in this city), the open transparency of life to reveal Christ in me, the hope of glory.  Let Christ, who is my life, be revealed in His glory.  Grant that through my actions and words,  Christ would be seen,  and believed in.   I want "every one" to see Christ and to believe in Him.  Father, isn't that why we are here?  You have endued us will power from on high.  You have entrusted to us the keys to the kingdom.   You have given us the minsitry of reconciliation.  You said that we were the light of the world.  You commanded us to go into all the world to make disciples.  Grant to me a heart to do what You said to do.   Just as our Lord said, "If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father";  in the same way, Father, let it be known that if one should see a Christian from this valley, they have seen The Christ."    In Jesus Name.

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:20-22

Dear Lord, You are our help and shield. We come to You with all the life events we face. Lead us and guide us through each situation. We rejoice in you and trust in Your holy name. You are an upright and righteous God. However, You shower us with  Your mercy and forgiveness. We love You now and forever. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Topic: Have Mercy On Us

January 19, 2012 11:36 PM by DanJ

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

                                                                     Luke 18:10-14

Dear Jesus we bow our hearts and our minds to you this day.  Give us a deeper understanding of what our responsibilities are in this life.  Help us to follow through with the things that you have given us to do as individuals, as family members, as parts of the church body, as people in our community.  Let us do the work you've given us in a humble way, allowing You to shine through our efforts and not us.  Help us to remember that we are worthless and helpless without You and Your forgiveness.  Thank you for Your forgiveness and the light You bring into our lives.
