Monday AM Prayer Focus: Trust God

December 30, 2012 6:46 PM by Diane

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:3-5.

Lord, sometimes we feel as if we live in world gone mad. Help us to take a deep breath and refocus our trust in You. You are our delight and only way of salvation. You are ever faithful and worthy of our love and commitment. Lead us each day of our lives. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - Witnesses of Glory

December 28, 2012 12:15 AM by DanJ

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. 2Peter1:16-18

Thank you Lord that You shared a glimpse of glory with the apostles.  Help us to see glimpses of Your glory in common things, in our everyday life.  Give us a heart to seek after You in the normal parts of our day.  And help us to find time to set apart for You.  Give us wisdom to use our time wisely.  We pray that the church in the valley would be more productive this coming year.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Take care against inordinate affections

December 26, 2012 10:24 PM by Roger

2 Corinthians 6:11-12,  "O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open.  You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections."

God, You have given us the fulness of Yourself.  You have lavished upon us the riches of Your grace.  You have entrusted to us the keys to the kingdom.  You have given us Your name.   We have a blood covenant.  You have withheld nothing from us.  The only restriction we have comes from within ourselves.  Father, in Jesus name, grant us self control over the love of the things of this world, and over the desires of the flesh.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Jesus in a Manger

December 24, 2012 12:18 AM by Diane

And she brought forth her first-born Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7.

Dear Jesus, You left all the glories of heaven to come down and be born as an infant in the lowliest of circumstances. You could have had comforts, riches, and glory but instead you came into dirt, poverty, and rejection. You came out of obedience to Your Father and out of love for us. Help to follow your example. Grant us servant's hearts not only now but also in the New Year. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - Approach God Confident Through Christ

December 21, 2012 12:38 AM by DanJ

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  Heb. 4:14-16

Thank you Father that we can approach You in assurance, in confidence, knowing we will receive mercy and grace and find help in our time of need.  You love us so much and we take little notice of it.  Help us not to complain about the little things that could set us off.  Help us to remember Your love for us all the day long, even in the tedious times and the times when others give us difficulty.  Help us to remember Your love is greater, stronger and surer than anything raised against us.  Teach us to respond in love.

Wednesday 6:30 AM Prayer Focus: Joined together in Christ

December 19, 2012 7:48 AM by Peter

Eph. 2 lays out God's plan for joining us together in one Body with Christ Jesus as our Head. As we are united and fitly joined together, we can accomplish what the Lord destined us for.

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. (NIV)

Father, we are looking to You for peace personally, in our families, in Your Church, and in our communities. Thank You for making us one Body, for reconciling us to You, giving us access to You by Your Spirit, and building us up into a holy temple for You to indwell. Please help us prioritize the joining together of your Body. Be with those efforts You have initiated to make us one in Christ for Your glory and honor.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Comfort

December 16, 2012 4:30 PM by Diane

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. II Corinthians 1:5.

Father God, this holiday season their are so many families experiencing pain and sorrow. Grief came into their lives suddenly and without warning. We pray that your comfort will truely overflow into their hurt and sustain them through this dark time. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - The Weary Can Find Rest

December 14, 2012 12:14 AM by DanJ

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28

It is so good to know that You care for us even when we are weary.  You provide rest, comfort, and understanding in times when it appears there is none.  You love us so much to give us these things even when we don't neccessarily deserve them.  Thank you for loving us even in our weakness and even in our failures.
