Friday AM Prayer Focus - Awake My Soul and Sing

February 28, 2013 10:30 PM by DanJ

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
    my heart is steadfast;
    I will sing and make music.
Awake, my soul!
    Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.  Psalm 57:7

We have much to sing about in You Dear Lord.  Thank You for Your many blessings of life and the understanding that You bring to it.  Thank You for the wonders of creation, for the love that You teach us about.  Help us to love our neighbors, our friends, and even our enemies.  Help us to be kind and thoughtful to everyone we meet.  From the happiest to the low in spirit.  Bless our day with insight and knowledge that we didn't have the day before.  Let us see things from a fresh perspective and new revelation and deeper understanding.  Be our teacher and our guide.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Stand strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

February 27, 2013 9:43 PM by Roger

Jesus came and destroyed the works of the devil.   He said that those of us who believed in Him would do the works that He did.   He gave us all authority in heaven and on earth to do that and bids us to stand strong in Him and in His strength against the (lying) schemes of the devil.

Standing means we get stubborn and beligerent against the lies, declaring His truth.  Standing strong in Him means having a sure and certain connection to God.   Standing in the strength of His might means having a bold confidence in the victory of His finished work.   We get to win.  Hallelujah!

Pray for believers to use their authority.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: God's Word

February 24, 2013 6:13 PM by Diane

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:16-17.

Dear God, Thank you for Your inspired written Word. As we read Your Words, let them come alive to us by the leading and revelation of the Holy Spirit. Thank you that we have freedom in our country to own and freely read your Bible. Let us never take this great priveledge lightly. May we read Your Word regularly and allow it to work within us. Amen.

Saturday: Peaceful Sleep

February 22, 2013 11:00 PM by Diane

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone,  O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8.

Dear Lord, Sometimes we toss and turn at night and cannot sleep. We have trouble shutting down our brains so we can stop thinking about the who, what, where, and how from yesterday, today, and tomorrow. And yet, Your word says we can lie down in peace and dwell in safety. Help us have such a close relationship with You, that the wordly troubles fade away into silence, and we can rest in Your peace that passes understanding. Lord, You are our sanctuary. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - Offer Praise

February 22, 2013 7:07 AM by DanJ

Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.  Psalm 50:23

In praise and worship we learn to give God thanks.  We thank you this morning for the wonder of being alive, the breath you give us, the opportunity of simply being.  We are greatful to You Lord for it is through You we understand life.  Through You we live, we breathe and have our being.  Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Progressing in a personal connection

February 20, 2013 9:42 PM by Roger

The Word of God is not about knowing words.  It's about knowing God.   We can think we know all kinds of things about God and not really know Him at all.   How much we read the scriptures is not the measure of our spiritual health.   The scriptures simply point us to Christ.  Jesus said, "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness to Me."  John 5:39

I do not believe in prayer.  We are supposed to believe in God.  How much we pray is not the measure of our spiritual health.  Prayer is simply the mechanism of our connection.  Answered prayer is the evidence of our connection.   If our prayers are not answered,  either we are not really praying at all, or we really don't have a connection.   Jesus said, "... if you shall ask the Father for anything, He will give it to you in My name."  John 16:23.

It is very possible to come to church, to enjoy fellowship with other believers, to sing worship and praise songs with gusto, and to listen to good preaching,  and then go home without having changed a thing.  We can go home and not make any progress in our relationship to God.   We can go home with no benefit.  We can go home without any affect upon our lives.   We have been religious, but our going to church is not the measure of our spiritual health.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Jesus, the Good Shepherd

February 17, 2013 8:16 PM by Diane

My sheep hear my voice, and I kow them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28.

Dear Jesus, thank you that You are the Good Shepherd. Help us to be good sheep. Lead us and guide us through Your written Word and by Your Holy Spirit. Help us to be willing to follow You wherever You take us. We trust You with our lives knowing that You love us now and forever. Amen.

Saturday: Sacrifices

February 15, 2013 11:53 PM by Diane

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16.

Dear God, Being sacrificial does not come naturally to many of us humans. We easily miss opportunities to praise, do good, and to share because we are so busy in the activities of our lives. Help us to be more sacrificial by both seeing and responding to opportunities You put before us. Help us have servant hearts that follow the leading of Your Holy Spirit. You are worthy of all our praise. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - Laying Down our Lives

February 15, 2013 12:09 AM by DanJ

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:12-13

Lord, the love You shared with us is deeper than our love.  Sometimes I feel inconvenienced when someone I know asks for a favor. You shared that our love should go far beyond inconvenience to laying down our lives. Help us Your people to learn this. Not only in the dramatic ways, but in the simple acts of kindness and love that present themselves each and everday.  Help us to be the good Samaritan.  Help us to carry another's cross. Help us to be a listening ear, a caring heart, a loving friend.

1 Thes. 4:3  For this is the will of God, 1.)  your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality;  2.)
