Saturday: God Knows

August 30, 2013 9:33 PM by Diane

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11.

Dear God, How can we comprehend the fact that you think about us as idividuals. Not only that, Your thoughts toward us are not mean and angry but positive. You give us hope and a future. Sometimes all we can see are failures and chaos. Break into our bleakness and anxiety with Your peace. Thank you that You are a caring loving God intimately acquainted with each of us. Amen.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Filled with Joy

August 28, 2013 9:30 PM by Roger

John 16:24.  Jesus said, "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name:  ask and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."

Joy is God's will for us.  It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  It is a third part of the kingdom.  Romans 14:17 says, " the kingdom of God is . . . righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Let's pray for the saints in our city to be full of joy.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Good Gifts

August 25, 2013 10:12 PM by Diane

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24.

Dear Lord, We serve You each day of our lives. Help us to live each day to the fullest keeping our thoughts, prayers, and activities focused on You. The praise of man is fleeting and fickle. Thank you that our inheritance is sure through Jesus. Amen.

Saturday: A Clean Heart

August 23, 2013 10:11 PM by Diane

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalm 51:10-12

Dear Lord, What was the Psalmist thinking when he penned this Psalm to you? What circumstances had fueled his heart's cry? The words are ageless about our need and Your response. How we need You. Cleanse us, steady us, and restore our joy of Your salvation. Most of all God, we want to humbly be in relationship with You. Lead us and guide us each day. Amen.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - For the blessing of public employees

August 22, 2013 10:13 PM by Roger

We might be tempted to think of public employees as just doing a job.   We might think that they are paid to do it and that's all there is to it.   Nonetheless, whatever motive brought them to their position, the fact remains -  they do us all a great service and we honor them.  Let us consider how to support them in prayer.  Police, Sherrifs, State Troopers; Firemen, EMT respnders, ER staff;  School teachers;  Road crews, Trash collectors, Water and Sewer treatment personnel;  City and County clerks, Council members, Court personnel, Jailers. Probation and Parole Officers,  DHS staff, Employment Office staff;  CASA volunteers;  others?

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Community ministries to the poor

August 21, 2013 9:59 PM by Roger

Our fair city is stellar in showing God's love to people, especially to those who are down and out.  There are many ways people can find help here. Let us be faithful to pray for God's provision of wisdom, discernment, safety, adequate finances, an abundance of volunteer help, and encouragements to those who are in leadership in these ministries.

Remember before the Lord,  Love INC, The Father's Heart, Helping Hands, Salvation Army, Fish Guest House. Options PG Center, Signs of Victory Mission, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen,  Free On The Inside, others?

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Pray for Our Nation

August 18, 2013 9:44 PM by Diane

In His name the nations will put their hope. Matthew 12:21

Dear God, Thank you for our nation's Christian heritage. Lord, we lift up our country to You. We repent of our failure to keep you first in our homes, cities, states and nation. We humble ourselves before you and ask that You heal our land. We look to You and Your word for guidance and direction. Be the center of all we say and do. Amen.

Saturday: Spiritual Warfare

August 16, 2013 9:41 PM by Diane

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. II Corinthians 10:4-5.

Dear Lord, Thank you that You equip us for spiritual battle. Left alone we are weak. However with You, strongholds crumple, arguments cease, knowledge of God triumphs, and our thoughts are purified. You are a mighty God. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Do Not Worry

August 15, 2013 11:21 PM by Dan

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  Matt. 6:31-34

Dear Lord forgive us.  So often we worry about things that we can not do anything about.  So often we look to our own resources rather than yours.  We know that you are the supplier of all good things.  We know that you will care for us regardless how things appear.  Help us to trust in you and to rely in you like never before.  Help us to seek you each day, all the day long, seeing your blessing with us.  Help us to be aware of your presence even when things look like they are failing.  Thank you for your care and concern for us Lord.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Healing for the sick

August 14, 2013 9:16 PM by Roger

In Luke 10:8-9 Jesus sent out His disciples saying ... "And whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, The kingdom of God has come near to you."   Matthew 28:18-20 includes us in this command.

As long as there are sick people in our city, we must be praying for them.  Let's pray for friends, family, neighbors, people we know.  Let's pray for those in the hospitals, rehab centers, and nursing homes.   By His stripes we are healed.
