Saturday: Joyful

November 29, 2013 11:57 by Diane

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:1-3.

Dear God, Help us greet You each day with joyful gladness. We can have such exuberance when we watch our favorite sport. We shout and rejoice when our team is winning. We high five and cheer. Help us to rejoice in Your goodness and mercy. You are central in everything we are and do.You are our hero and Savior. Help us to keep our focus on You and not ourselves. You are worthy of all our joyful adoration. Amen.

Friday Prayer Focus - Test Your Actions

November 28, 2013 8:09 by Dan

If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.

Gal. 6:3-5

Dear Lord, give us wisdom in knowing to focus on our own work and not comparing our work to others.  You have given each of us a mission and a purpose in life that is personal and purposeful.  When we take our eyes off that task to criticize others, we lose our own progress. Help us to keep our eyes on you and what you are directing us to do.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: Abundant Life

November 24, 2013 9:10 by Diane

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10.

Dear Jesus, Your words make it so clear. Satan, our enemy, comes to destroy us. You, however,  have come to give us life. Not only have You come to give us life but it is overflowing. Lord, forgive us. Sometimes it can seem as if there is some sort of middle road or it seems that things cannot really be so bad. However Your word tells us we have a life and death decision to make. We have abundant life with You or death with Satan. There is no other way. Lord, we choose You. Amen.

Saturday: Praise the Lord

November 23, 2013 12:28 by Diane

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. Psalm 63:3-5.

Dear God, We do praise You and bless You! Our joyful lips form words of thankfulness as we consider the mercy, grace, and love that pours into our lives from You. You saved us and brought us into Your family. You give us hope and a future. We thank you with our whole hearts now and forever. Amen.

Friday Prayer Topic - Faith and Thanksgiving

November 21, 2013 11:50 by Dan

It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.  2 Corinthians 4:13-15

We desire to reach those who haven't heard the gospel Lord.  We would like to be able to share with them in a way that they understand and can have faith.  Help we Your church, to be that witness, living in faith, understanding the truth and being willing to share it.  Help our testimony to be true, that we are all sinners saved by grace, saved by Your blood, saved by Your power.  Give us a humble heart in knowing this and living it out.  Let there be many in our community giving thanks to You this Thanksgiving that have not done that in years past.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Blessed are the peacemakers

November 20, 2013 9:06 by Roger

A week from today is our Thanksgiving holiday.  Many families will gather together for a holiday meal.  Some of those families have broken relationships, tensions, even open conflict.  Today, let's pray for

1. estranged family members to be willing to come to the gathering.

2. God's abounding grace to help everyone to show consideration and honor to all family members

3. a "peacemaker" to find a key to unlock the prison-house of unforgiveness.

4. reconciliation and restoration.

5. grateful hearts.

Monday AM Prayer Focus: God's Thoughts

November 17, 2013 11:09 by Diane

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9.

Dear God, Thank goodness Your thoughts are not like our thoughts and Your ways are not like our ways. Sometimes my thoughts are pretty stinky and my ways make be embarrassed and remorseful when I reflect on them. Teach us to think and do better. Lord, we need a renewal. Fill us so with Your presence that You shine forth in our thoughts and actions. Amen.

Saturday: Be Ready

November 15, 2013 5:24 by Diane

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, who his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. Matthew 24:45-47.

Dear Lord, thank you that You uniquely made and gifted each one of us. You love us and guide us through all the days of our lives. Help us to  faithfully serve You no matter when or what. We know that You will not ask us to do anything that is more than we can handle. We want to be ready so that when You return, we can run to You in worship and praise. Amen.

Friday Prayer Focus - Nothing Can Separate Us From God

November 14, 2013 10:25 by Dan

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39

Help us Lord in our understanding that nothing can separate us from You. For those who once accepted You and feel alone. For those who have turned away from You. For those who feel they have not accomplished enough. For those who lack faith. Let them know You are right there with them. Help them to become aware of Your presence. Help them have wonder and accept the truth that is deep within their heart. Please kindle the flame of faith in the Mid Willamette Valley as never before Lord. Bring back the prodigal, the loner, the stranger into relationship with You and Your body here in the valley.

Thursday AM Prayer Focus - Feeling the heart of God

November 13, 2013 9:15 by Roger

Angry about injustice?     Worried about a loved one who is out of control?   Heartbroken over the plight of the poor,  maybe even someone you know,   maybe even someone in your own family?   Concerned over a friend or neighbor in a troubled marriage.   Are you wanting to do something to help?    Before you pray,  ask yourself,  "Where do those feelings come from"?   They are nothing less than a reflection of God's heart.   He feels those very things and shares His heart with you so that you may pray.   And when you pray,  you are asking Him to do the very thing He wants to do.  Expect Him to act.

"And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out (without measure) into our hearts, by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."   Romans 5:5
