Friday Prayer: Heirs

March 13, 2014 10:53 PM by Dan

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.  Galatians 4:6-7

Heirs do not always act appropriately to their inheritance. Some squander it on foolish ways. But some recognize the great opportunity they have been given. God's love has been given to us as an inheritance. Let us rejoice in gratitude today in the favor the Lord has given us. We rejoice in You O Lord. We lift up halleluiahs and shouts of joy for we are the heirs of salvation. We are free, no longer slaves. Thanks be to You Lord. Thanks be to You.

Tuesday Prayer: God's Ways

March 10, 2014 11:06 PM by Diane

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Romans 11:33.

Dear God, Lead us into Godly wisdom and teach us about You and Your direction for our lives. We thank you for Your word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. However, there is so much that we do not know and cannot understand about You. We are limited and You are so great that we have no way to fully comprehend who and how You are. We do know that You allowed us to be reconcilled to You through the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus. We do know that You are love and full of unmerited grace and mercy. We love You back. Amen.

Monday Prayer: A New Day

March 9, 2014 11:08 PM by Diane

Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14.

Lord, in the morning, let our first thoughts be of You and Your unfailing love. Let Your love surround us and give as joy as we set out on our day no matter what it may bring. Let us face each situation trusting that You will lead and guide us. Thank you for the gift of time and another day to serve You. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Patience

March 7, 2014 11:02 PM by Diane

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have it perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing. James 1:2-4.

Dear Lord, It is hard to pray for patience, and it is hard to be joyful in various trials. It means that we have to be nice to those people and situations that are just not going the way we think they should. We have to give up our frustrations. Grant us a change of mind and heart to see things from your perspective so we can reflect Your love and compassion. Use these situations to help us grow in faith and trust in You. We want to be like you and we want to be led by Your Spirit. Grow us into patient men and women of faith. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Exuberance

March 6, 2014 10:14 PM by Dan

Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!
Let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill
And to Your tabernacle.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
To God my exceeding joy;
And on the harp I will praise You,
O God, my God.

                       Psalm 43:3-4

Dear God you are awaiting our praises. Your word speaks in so many places of how You are to be praised. Our exuberance towards You is important and will lighten our load in life. Help us to praise You on the stormy days as well as the sunny days, on the difficult days and the easy days. Give us a heart to praise You and never let a day go without thanksgiving.

Tuesday Prayer: Worry

March 3, 2014 11:06 PM by Diane

And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; and and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Luke 12:25-27

Dear Lord, Thank you for these verses. First of all you remind us how unproductive worring is. It is so easy to fret about family, finances, health, and anything else that causes us angst. Our desire is to trust you with all aspects of our lives. Help us with our unbelief. Secondly you teach us how much You care for all of Your creation. If Your lilies are arrayed better than a King, how much more do You care for us and all the details of our lives? Thank you that You love us so much. We give you thanks with grateful hearts. Amen.

Monday Prayer: God Meant it for Good

March 2, 2014 9:47 PM by Diane

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20.

Dear God, Only You can turn terrible circumstances into good. Most likely Joseph had no idea how his situation could turn out well after his brothers sold him into slavery. And yet, years later in Egypt, after enduring slavery and prison, he became second in command next to Pharaoh. The lives of many people were saved because of Joseph's faithfulness. He even reconcilled with his brothers and was able to forgive them. Lord, help us to turn our impossible situations into good for others and ourselves. Help to to walk through deep dark valleys by staying close to You and Your word. Thank you Lord that You are God of the impossible. Amen.
