Monday Prayer: Joy and Hatred

August 31, 2014 11:48 by Diane

"I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them Your word and the world has hated them." John 17:13-14.

Dear Jesus, What a conflict You describe to us. You speak of the full measure of Your joy within us and hatred of the world around us. Help us to keep our focus on You and the joy that is set before us. Let Your love and salvation make our trials dim in comparison. Let Your good news flow from us even though some may hate us for it. Let us stand firm as willing servants knowing that our Master, King, Father, and Friend will never leave us or forsake us. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Give Thanks

August 29, 2014 11:43 by Diane

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Psalm 107:19-21.

Dear God, How we thank and praise You for Your goodness to us. We can come to You in the good and the difficult times knowing that You hear us. You send Your word forth and it is done. Goodness and mercy flow to us. It is hard to imagine that You take note of us in the vastness of Your creation. We serve an awesome God. We lift hearts filled with thanksgiving to You. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Added to Our Number

August 28, 2014 10:54 by Dan

And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,  to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them. Also the people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together, bringing people who were sick or afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed.

Lord You added to our number in the early days of the church. Today we ask that you add to our numbers to churches here in Albany and the surrounding area. We pray for a great move of Your Holy Spirit to do a work that no man can stop, that no man can reduce or cause to fail. We desire Your Spirit in Your fullness to be among us. Let us see miraculous healing and great wonders to confirm Your Spirit's presence. Come Spirit Come.

Monday Prayer: Being First

August 24, 2014 9:05 by Diane

And He sat down, called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." Mark 9:35.

Dear Jesus, In our hurry up world, we often want to be first in line, first to receive a promotion, and first to try every new gadget. According to this verse, Your ways are not our ways. You tell us the way to get ahead is to be last and serve others. You even say not just to serve others but to serve all. This demands a very different mindset from the pushiness and striving that can fill our day. We might say it is impossible but You set the example. You life is a living testimony of service and completion of all that You set out to do. Help us to follow in Your footsteps. Forgive us when we fall back into our old ways. Help us to keep our focus on Your direction and not our worldly success. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Today into the Future

August 21, 2014 9:46 by Dan

Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Matt. 25:1-4

We pray this day for the understanding of needing Your Holy Spirit to be with us. Oil of understanding to light the way through this life into eternity. Please help us in our everyday work and the here and now, but also help us to see beyond and what we will need to get there. Please Holy Spirit, dwell with us richly. Help us to carry You in supply for the future. Bless the road ahead. Amen.

Friday AM: Shekinah Glory

August 14, 2014 9:31 by Dan

Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. The priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord's house. All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the Lord upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the Lord, saying, "Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is everlasting."               2 Chronicles 10:1-3

God's glory is available to us each and everyday. We simply need to find time to pray. Lord, your magnificence follows from Solomon's time to today. In Solomon's time, You had him build a temple. In our time, we are the temple. You dwell within us. Help us to stay in touch with You in prayer. Help us to seek You. You are not hidden, but desire fellowship with us. Thank you Lord for Your kindness to us today. We look forward to spending time in Your presence today.

Monday Prayer: Humble Beginnings

August 10, 2014 3:34 by Diane

He also chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds: From following the ewes that had young He brought him to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. Psalm 78:70-72.

Dear God, Thank you that you can take us from humble beginnings and mold us into paths we could never imagine. Help us to stay willing servants and learn from You. Mold our hearts and guide our direction so we can be all You would have us be. In all our ways we want to acknowledge you and serve You faithfully. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Thanksgiving and Praise

August 8, 2014 11:37 by Diane

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlating, and His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5.

Dear God, We bring You our thanks and praise this new day. In a world of turmoil and fear, You stand steadfast with mercy, goodness and truth that spans the generations from now into eternity. We lift our thankful praises because You are worthy no matter the circumstances. Lord, help us to be faithful and responsible to You those around us. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Walk in Christ

August 8, 2014 12:39 by Dan

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.  Col. 2:6-8

Lord, help us to be steadfast, sure of steps. Teach us to have an understanding of this world we live in by knowing You and the truth that You bring to us. Give us gratitude and understanding like we have not experienced before. We pray for the church in Albany and outlying areas, help Your church to see Your truth like never before. Keep away those who would try to deceive the church and lead it astray. Please keep teachers and preachers, teaching out of the whole Bible and praying with their whole heart, mind and soul focused on You. Help our teachers to guide the church in a right way. Please lead your people. We love You.

Monday Prayer: The Heart

August 3, 2014 6:00 by Diane

But the Lord said to Samuel,"Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart. I Samuel 16:7.

Dear Lord, You look into our hearts and see thoughts and attitudes that no one else can see because we keep them hidden. Help us to have clean hearts that we may welcome rather than fearYour presence. We join the psalmist who wrote, "Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit with me." (Psalm 51:10). Amen.
