Friday Prayer: Pick Up Your Cross

September 11, 2014 9:04 PM by Dan

“The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things,” he said. “He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels. I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God.”   Luke 9:22-27

Lord, You gave us faith for a purpose, a goal. I pray today that we Your people would take Your words seriously and not squander the time Your have blessed us with on worthless things. We idolize so many foolish things in our lives. Forgive us Lord. Show us what is worthless that can be tossed. Give us a pure heart that is desiring You more than anything else in this world. Help us to see our personal goals in this life, like You faced the cross, help us to live out the walk that is before us.

Monday Prayer: The Word

September 7, 2014 11:49 PM by Diane

With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are you, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:10-12.

Dear Lord, Help us to hide Your word in our hearts. We know in order to accomplish that, we need to spend time in Your word daily. Show us how to arrange our time so reading our Bibles becomes as important as eating and brushing our teeth.  Let our Bibles become worn with wear and not covered in dust. Lord, we desire to have your word so internalized, that the Holy Spirit can bring to our minds and mouth just the verses that are needed for whatever situation You send. Thank you that in our country we are allowed to have Bibles and access to Your word. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Steadfast

September 5, 2014 11:58 PM by Diane

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Dear God, Thank you for this verse. Help us to remain faithful  to You and Your teaching every day of our lives. Let us not become weary in well doing. Thank you for Your faithfulness to us. Let us never take You for granted. We love You. Amen.
