Friday AM: Spirit of Christ

October 30, 2014 9:51 PM by Dan

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

Lord, may your Spirit be revealed to us more and more each day. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be close to the Father through the Son. Thank you for giving us an understanding of who You are. Spirit teach us, instruct us, guide us. Give us wisdom as You did the Son. Give us greater vision of You in our prayer and study times. Help us to grow stronger in You.

Monday Prayer: God's Help

October 26, 2014 9:53 PM by Diane

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, "Fear not, I will help you." Isaiah 41:13.

Dear God, Thank you for this tender verse. When we find ourselves in difficult situations that seem overwhelming, we can trust that You will hold our hand, comfort us, and help us through whatever may be happening. It doesn't mean we won't have hard times. It does mean that You are aware of us individually and we are not alone during them. Our hearts are overwhelmed with Your love, mercy, and grace. Thank you Lord! Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Melody in Our Hearts

October 24, 2014 11:38 PM by Diane

Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father  in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20.

Dear Lord, Fill us all with a melody of thanksgiving and praise to You in our hearts. We each may have a different tune and some of us may sing like a lark or a bullfrog but our melodies will bring our love to You as we worship. Thank you for the gift of music in our lives. We can only imagine what the heavenly choruses will be like when we get to heaven. Help us not to hold back but to enter in with all our being. You are worthy of all our praise, thanksgiving and adoration. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Spending Time with God

October 23, 2014 11:47 PM by Dan

Hear my prayer,Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield,O God;
    look with favor on your anointed one.

Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
    from those whose walk is blameless.

Lord Almighty,
    blessed is the one who trusts in you.  Psalm 84:8-12

Dear Lord, it is wonderful to spend time with you. Help us to learn to appreciate our time with You more. Keep us from the tents of the wicked. Keep us close to You. We desire to do Your will. To do good each and every day of our lives. Teach us Your ways so we can influence our community, state and nation by simply doing good and living good lives. Help Your church to work together in this effort. Help us to be effective. We trust You are working within us Lord.

Monday Prayer: Foreigners

October 19, 2014 7:28 PM by Diane

"If you were of the world, the world would love it's own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. John 15:19

Dear Jesus, Help us understand that we are not citizens of this physical world. Rather, we are foreigners waiting for You to come and gather us together at the end of this age. Until then, lead us to share your good news with others. We know that the world hated You. It is not surprising that the world will also hate us. Keep our focus on You. Let us serve You with gladness. Fill us with Your grace, mercy, and peace. We love You Lord. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Worship

October 17, 2014 10:07 PM by Diane

So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? "Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" Luke 17:17-18.

Dear God, We want to be the ones that give glory to You each day of our lives. In the good times times and the bad times, You are always worthy of praise and worship. Help us to keep our hearts and spirit open to You. Give us a sensitivity to recognize Your blessings and out poured love throughout the busyness of our days. Let our love overflow in praise and worship. Amen.

Friday Prayer: To the Nations

October 16, 2014 10:24 PM by Dan

The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
    before you were born I set you apart;
    I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:4-5

Lord, You know us. Help us to see our calling in this life. We ask for the church in the Mid-Willamette Valley. You have placed us all in particular places in this place and you send us around the world. Help us to see our purpose. Help us to measure the words to share with those around us. Help us to be the prophet to those who have not heard You speak. Help us to be those who exhibit who You are to others.

Monday Prayer: Contentment

October 12, 2014 9:21 PM by Diane

Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. I Timothy 6:6-7.

Dear God, Out society does not foster contentment. A world without God is full of striving for things to fill the void that only God can fill. Help us keep our focus on You, Lord. Be our mainstay and our all in all.  Help us to sidestep the pull of the world that insists we need anything but You to be fulfilled.  With you we are complete and content. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Children

October 11, 2014 12:21 AM by Diane

But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." Luke 18:16-17.

Dear Jesus, How wonderful that You wanted the little children to come to You. Thank you that You love us during all the stages and ages of our life. Help us to have the faith of a child when You guide and direct us. Let us hear, accept, and obey Your Word. Amen.

Monday Prayer: Follow Me

October 6, 2014 12:13 AM by Diane

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. John 12: 26

Dear Jesus, How Your words challenge us. We are to follow You as willing servants. It sounds so easy and maybe we just make it complicated. Forgive us. Help us to lay down our lives. Give us hearts of love and gratitude to You. As we slip into doing our own things and find ourselves chasing after our plans and ideas, help us to stop and redirect our steps back to following You. We want to make Your path our path, Your way our way no matter what. Amen.
