Saturday Prayer: Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.       Hebrews 11:1.

Dear God, Increase our faith and help our unbelief. You are our only hope in this life and eternity. We are your creation and cannot take a breath unless You supply it. We are totally dependent on You and Your love and mercy. Although most of us have not seen You directly, this is our faith and it is our evidence of things not seen. Thank you that You accept our child like faith that is set firmly on the rock  of Your salvation. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Hand of Mercy

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”  Lamentations 3:22-24


Lord, we wait for You this morning, praising You for Your faithfulness to us.  Lord, Your mercy extends to those who wait on You. Thank you for Your answers. Thank You for Your mercy. Help us to recognize Your hand of mercy on us.

For this is commendable, if because of conscious toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. I Peter 2:19-20.

Dear God, this is a very hard verse. No one wants to suffer especially if we have done no wrong other than to love and serve You. And yet, we hear about Christians all across the globe who are facing horrific hardships because they are believers. Help us to remember to pray for the persecuted men, women, and children who choose to serve You no matter what. Grant them Your comfort and peace. Help them to remain strong. Please bring them to a place of safety. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Christ's Compelling Love

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus; that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them, and rose again. II Corinthians 5:14-15.

Dear Jesus, You came and died for all so that we, who follow You, no longer live for ourselves but for You. When we begin to comprehend Your great sacrifice and love, we want to be as close to You as possible. Help Your love continue to grow in each of us and become a river of love flowing out of us to others. Amen.

Friday Prayer: The Field

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matt. 13:44


Today we ask that You would give our city faith to purchase the field that holds the treasure. To let go of the old ways of looking at things and see that the things that You are bringing us to are more important and more vital than any other pursuit in this world. Help us to sell our old stuff and purchase the field of faith in You. The work that You have given, the view of this earth that knowledge of who You are brings to us. Please help us Lord to abandon selfish pursuits, careless thoughts, foolish fears, past regrets, painful memories and see a glorious future that we never imagined. A treasure. For the rest of all time.

Friday Prayer: God's Goodness

And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Exodus 33:19


Dear Lord God, it is impossible to imagine what Moses felt. All Your goodness. What glory. What power. I don't equate goodness with power, but it is. You create power through our goodness also. I am thankful that You teach us goodness. Your way to love others and humanity. You set the example. You showed us the way. Help us to love like You did. Teach us Your ways Lord. Teach the church in Albany to draw strength from the power of Your goodness.

Tuesday Prayer: Worship

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Psalm 95:6-7.

Lord, You indeed are our Maker and Shepherd. We lift up our prayers to You with praise and adoration. We humble ourselves before You and rejoice that You are our God. May we never take You for granted or become indifferent to You. Draw us close to Your heart. Thank you that we can call You Savior, King, and Friend. Amen.

Monday Prayer: Commandments

For this  is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. I John 5:3.

Lord, We all can get so tired of rules and laws that govern us everyday. So many of them do not make sense and they can cause irritations, delays, and even unfairness. However, You ask us to keep Your commandments. Help us follow Your commandments with joy and thanksgiving because they help us to live by Your principles. You give them to us in love to give us happier and more ordered lives. Not only that, You have promised that they will not be burdensome. Thank you that You lead us and guide us on the paths of life that we should follow. Amen.

And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35

Dear Jesus, Part of our basic human need is food and water. Without both we will die. Spiritually, You are our bread and water. Without You we will die. Today we lift up thankful hearts that You came on earth to die in order that we might live through Your sacrifice. Let us never ignore You or take You for granted. We love You. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Call on His Name

At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord. Gen. 4:26b


Dear Lord, it appears that when Adam and Eve fell, it took some time before them and their families realized that they needed to call upon You even though You no longer walked with them because of their sin. We Your people make the choice to call on You today, praising You,  worshiping You and thanking You for all that You have done.  You are no longer far from us, but You are here, near us. Help us all as Christians to get beyond our own failings. Help us to call on You and discover You near.  Today we pray for our community of saints that they will seek Your face.
