Friday Prayer: Clean Hearts

April 28, 2016 9:43 by Dan

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.

Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.        Psalm 51:10-15

Let our hearts be drawn to repentance and deliverance from every evil that encumbers us and those around us. Lord be our guide and our path in life. Help us to teach others your ways so that our city, state and country will become strong. Let our knowledge of you and your excellent ways spread to others and may it multiple. Save now Lord, here in this city, in our neighborhoods and homes. May we sing praises to You of Your great love for us.

Shelter in the Storms

April 27, 2016 11:43 by Diane

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Dear God, This prayer echoes down to us from the turbulent times of Paul in Rome. Then, like now, Christians were persecuted and put to death. Yet, Paul's words point us to a life of joy, peace and hope based on the good news of our risen Savior. Our media and circumstances can give us anxiety and fear. The difficult issues the world faces can lead to hopelessness. However, thanks be to God, through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can rise above the worldly storms into the good things of God. Thank you Lord that this is more than a good idea; it is our reality when we place our hope in You. Amen.

Friday Prayer: By the Spirit

April 21, 2016 10:54 by Dan

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. 1 John 3:23-24

Jesus, we believe in You. We live our lives caring and praying for others. We work at living by Your Word. Please Lord, open up the power of Your Spirit in our communities in the Willamette Valley and Oregon. We pray that people will become hungry for knowing the truth of God. That they will read the Bible and pray to You. Let the power of the Spirit rain down on this valley.

God's Love and Mercy

April 19, 2016 8:35 by Diane

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us, abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3: 4-6.

Dear Jesus, Thank you for being our Savior. We cannot earn our way to You or follow laws and rules that lead us to Your door. We cannot buy or bribe our way into Your heaven. We must give up our striving and humbly accept Your priceless gift of salvation. You regenerate, and renew us. You take us from darkness into Your precious light. Lord, we say yes to You. We lift up eternally grateful hearts. Amen.

Friday Prayer: The Spirit is Available

April 14, 2016 9:17 by Dan

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.  Luke 7:37-39

Thank you Lord for opening up the flood gates of Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Your word makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is available today, as You have risen and have ascended into heaven and are glorified. Now we ask for a liberal outpouring of this Living Water on the church of the Willamette Valley and of Oregon. Let many understand Your presence is always here, always available to us. We pray that many receive Your Spirit today.

Friday Prayer: Abide

April 7, 2016 8:55 by Dan

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Teach us to rest in You Lord. To abide with You. Help us to live our lives though our understanding of Your Word and Your truth. Help us to give up on our own understanding or our belief that it is by our own strength and might and will that we accomplish anything. You are clear to us in this scripture. We can do nothing without You. Help the church in Oregon to understand this. Today we pray for this understanding to overwhelm Your church. Let us realize we can do nothing without You.

God is Able

April 5, 2016 2:53 by Diane

But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. I Corinthians 2:9.

Dear God, As we bring our prayers and concerns to You, our lack of trust in Your love and goodness can become apparent. We pray and plead as if You might be surprised about our concerns and unaware of the circumstances. Help us to come to you from a position of trust and obedience. Our needs are real but You are our ever present, all powerful, loving Father. Help us to express our needs through a filter of love and hope knowing that You are aware of each of us and know us better than we know ourselves.  Also, help us to remember that Your plans are so far above anything that we can think about or imagine. You are the God of the impossible. How we love and praise You. Amen
