Friday Prayer: Safety

May 26, 2016 9:26 PM by Diane

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8.

Dear God, When we read the paper or look at news on the internet, it can seem as if our world is spinning out of control. We can get upset, anxious, angry or depressed. However, You taught us to keep our focus on You. We read the end of the Bible and we know that You win. We trust You Lord to take care of us and the world around us. It will not always be easy but we know Who we serve. Thank you that You are always awake and faithful to Your promises. Therefore, we can lie down in the peace that passes understanding and sleep. Amen.

Temptation

May 23, 2016 8:32 PM by Diane

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. I Corinthians 10:13

Dear God, this can be considered a hard verse because it does not promise an easy path. It indicates that we will have temptations. Thank you that it also comes with a promise! You promise that there will be a way out or through the temptation safely.  Help us to stay alert. Temptations can look so inviting at first but quickly turn into quicksand. We want to be quick to recognize anything that leads us away from you and immediately look for that way out. Our help may be through prayer, it may be through the supportive help of a fellow believer. Whatever shape our escape may take, we want to see it and use it quickly. Thank you for your promise. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Strength Beyond What We Can Imagine

May 19, 2016 9:33 PM by Dan

“Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth! You’re ending up with far more children than all those childbearing women.” God says so! “Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations; you’re going to resettle abandoned cities. Don’t be afraid —you’re not going to be embarrassed. Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short. You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory. For your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth. You were like an abandoned wife, devastated with grief, and God welcomed you back, Like a woman married young and then left,” says your God.

                                                                  Isaiah 54:1-6 (The Message)

We sometime fear and we sometimes hold back our witness to others dear Lord. Forgive us. Help us to understand how much you are for us. Help us to get beyond the failures of the past and our fears about the future. When we live in You, You become our future and we can only see value in the places where we met with You in the past. Help us to walk in Your will and in Your power strong and sure and focused on the truth of what You are doing in our lives and the lives of those that we come across in our day to day life.

How We Should Live

May 14, 2016 12:04 PM by Diane

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; Romans 12:10-12.

Dear God, How clearly You tell us how we are to live. Forgive us when we fall so short. Help us to be focused on You and filled with the fruits of the Holy Spirit so we can be live out the Romans 12:10-12 verses. Thank you for so great a salvation through Jesus that allows us to be living sacrifices and adopted sons and daughters. All honor, praise, and glory be to You now and forever. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Make Music From Your Heart

May 12, 2016 10:53 PM by Dan

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
    my heart is steadfast;
    I will sing and make music.

Awake, my soul!
    Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.

I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.

                                                        Psalm 57:7-11

Praise You God. We praise you today in song, in speech, in walking, in talking, in sharing, in smiling, in shining. Everyday. All the day long. Teach us to make music with our heart, with our being, with our purpose. Let our light shine brighter than it did yesterday. Let our song be stronger than it was yesterday. Thank you for blessing us with Your presence dear Lord. Let Your glory be over all this earth.

Friday: You Know Him

May 5, 2016 10:24 PM by Dan

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you

John 14:15-17

Lord we know you, but do we keep your commands? Help us to do your work. To love God with our whole, heart, mind and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Give us wisdom in the small, simple things. Our countenance, our kindness, our willingness to live for you in all that we do.

National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer Theme: Wake Up America

National Day of Prayer Verse: Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Isaiah 58:1a

Dear God,  On this, The National Day of Prayer, we humbly lift our voices with other people across our land on behalf of our nation. We thank You for the blessing You have faithfully poured out on our country. Forgive us for the times we have not made you first in our lives and when we have ignored or missed opportunities to share You with others. We have pushed You out of our thoughts and culture. We lift repentant hearts and recommit ourselves to live for You first and foremost. Thank you for Your promise to hear our prayers when we cry out to you and heal our land. Please renew and restore us individually and collectively. We give You all our praise, glory, and honor. Amen.
