Friday Prayer: Know and Rely on God's love

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:15-18


Lord, so often I don't rely on Your love for me.  I think that my life is about my own ability and not Yours through me.  Help us to remember You are always here with us, wanting to be put to work to instruct, direct and assist us with our day. Help us to use Your Word and Your Spirit to guide our day and see it through to success.  Help us to love like You did.  Thank your Lord.

Saturday Prayer: Faithful

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galations 6:9

Dear Lord, Give us open hearts and hands to help those in need. We cannot help everyone but give us eyes to see those around us who You would have us help. It could be as easy as sharing a meal or running an errand. Sometimes it might take more time and energy like being a mentor or a volunteer to a relief agency. No matter what, give us willing hearts that will not hold back nor desire praise or recognition. We may not see the results of our efforts so help us to remain faithful knowing that in time we will be able to make a difference and serve You well. Amen.

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.  Psalm 20:1-5
We remember this morning that You are the source of all blessing, all comfort, all protection Lord God. We celebrate that in reading Psalm 20 and knowing that your blessings are near. That you would give us the desires of our heart and make all our plans succeed. You love us that much. Thank you Lord for Your kindness to us.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Romans 12:9

Dear God, You are love. Let us be more like You. Help us to sincerely live out Your love day by day. Forgive us when we get caught up in the things of the world that tell us to love this item or that thing which will make us more popular or appealing. The things of the world fade away but Your love lasts forever. We chose to keep our focus on You clinging to what is good. Help us not to stumble. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Strength of Job

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.  Job 42:10

Dear Lord, You asked Job to pray for his friends and he did. What a tremendous demonstration of love. In particular after Job had suffered so much verbal abuse from them. He had to be a humble man to forgive them and to follow through with a kindness of prayer to demonstrate that forgiveness. Lord, teach us to pray for each other. Even those who have offended us. Give us the strength of Job.

Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me. Romans15:30.

Dear Jesus, let us remember to pray for each other. We should pray for those You bring to mind, those in authority, for people in God's service, for family, friends, and for those who have prayer requests. The list can be long. How easily we can say to someone that we will pray for them. But then, as days pass, we forget and stop praying. . Help us to hold fast in our commitment to pray for others. Thank you that we know You hear and answer our prayers. Amen.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.       Hebrews 11:1.

Dear God, Increase our faith and help our unbelief. You are our only hope in this life and eternity. We are your creation and cannot take a breath unless You supply it. We are totally dependent on You and Your love and mercy. Although most of us have not seen You directly, this is our faith and it is our evidence of things not seen. Thank you that You accept our child like faith that is set firmly on the rock  of Your salvation. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Hand of Mercy

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”  Lamentations 3:22-24


Lord, we wait for You this morning, praising You for Your faithfulness to us.  Lord, Your mercy extends to those who wait on You. Thank you for Your answers. Thank You for Your mercy. Help us to recognize Your hand of mercy on us.

For this is commendable, if because of conscious toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. I Peter 2:19-20.

Dear God, this is a very hard verse. No one wants to suffer especially if we have done no wrong other than to love and serve You. And yet, we hear about Christians all across the globe who are facing horrific hardships because they are believers. Help us to remember to pray for the persecuted men, women, and children who choose to serve You no matter what. Grant them Your comfort and peace. Help them to remain strong. Please bring them to a place of safety. Amen.

Saturday Prayer: Christ's Compelling Love

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus; that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them, and rose again. II Corinthians 5:14-15.

Dear Jesus, You came and died for all so that we, who follow You, no longer live for ourselves but for You. When we begin to comprehend Your great sacrifice and love, we want to be as close to You as possible. Help Your love continue to grow in each of us and become a river of love flowing out of us to others. Amen.
