Friday Prayer: The Spirit is Available

April 14, 2016 9:17 PM by Dan

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.  Luke 7:37-39

Thank you Lord for opening up the flood gates of Living Water, the Holy Spirit. Your word makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is available today, as You have risen and have ascended into heaven and are glorified. Now we ask for a liberal outpouring of this Living Water on the church of the Willamette Valley and of Oregon. Let many understand Your presence is always here, always available to us. We pray that many receive Your Spirit today.

Friday Prayer: Abide

April 7, 2016 8:55 PM by Dan

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Teach us to rest in You Lord. To abide with You. Help us to live our lives though our understanding of Your Word and Your truth. Help us to give up on our own understanding or our belief that it is by our own strength and might and will that we accomplish anything. You are clear to us in this scripture. We can do nothing without You. Help the church in Oregon to understand this. Today we pray for this understanding to overwhelm Your church. Let us realize we can do nothing without You.

God is Able

April 5, 2016 2:53 PM by Diane

But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. I Corinthians 2:9.

Dear God, As we bring our prayers and concerns to You, our lack of trust in Your love and goodness can become apparent. We pray and plead as if You might be surprised about our concerns and unaware of the circumstances. Help us to come to you from a position of trust and obedience. Our needs are real but You are our ever present, all powerful, loving Father. Help us to express our needs through a filter of love and hope knowing that You are aware of each of us and know us better than we know ourselves.  Also, help us to remember that Your plans are so far above anything that we can think about or imagine. You are the God of the impossible. How we love and praise You. Amen

Friday Prayer: Unfailing Love

March 31, 2016 8:11 PM by Dan

But I am like an olive tree
    flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
    for ever and ever.
 For what you have done I will always praise you
    in the presence of your faithful people.
And I will hope in your name,
    for your name is good.              Psalm 52:8-9

Although there are enemies and problems in this life, we will praise You Lord. You have not abandoned us. We know You hear our prayer. Today hear the voice of Your people in Oregon. Let our praise, our repentance, our thanks and our requests be heard by You this day. Let us see great change in this Willamette Valley made by the power of Your Spirit. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Governed by the Spirit

March 17, 2016 8:59 PM by Dan

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.  Romans 8:5-6

Lord, Your Word instructs us to be governed by the Spirit. so that we can have life and peace.  Today we look to You Dear Holy Spirit. Help us to be governed by Your work in us. We pray for the church of this Willamette Valley to look to the Spirit for their decisions and for their choices. Give us the mind of Christ. Give us a desire to know Your Word more. Give us a heart to work toward being better men and women and boys and girls than we were yesterday. Instruct us dear Lord.

Friday Prayer: Wait on the Lord

March 3, 2016 10:44 PM by Dan

Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.
 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
 Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.
 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.
 Teach me your way, Lord;
    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.
 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.

 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 27:7-14

Dear Lord we are confident that You will show Your goodness to us as we continue to seek you in prayer.  Help us to wait, be strong and to take heart.  We live this as we pray it. Give Albany and the surrounding area wisdom to seek Your face, first and foremost in prayer and a life dedicated to You and your ways. Amen.

Friday Prayer: In Relationship

February 18, 2016 10:19 PM by Dan

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Dear Lord, we need to remain in relationship with You. You demonstrated Your power to the disciples and yet still some of them didn't believe. Today we pray, help our unbelief to become belief. We pray that the church in Albany would be convicted all the more of stronger belief in You than ever before in their lives. Let believers discover more belief in their hearts today. We pray for You to demonstrate Your relationship with saints and to show Your love in ways that they haven't appreciated before. Thank You for Your love for us Lord.

Friday Prayer: Entrusted

February 11, 2016 11:05 PM by Dan

 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Matt. 25:19-21

Dear Lord, you have entrusted us with life and understanding. We need to do the good work of sharing that understanding with others and watching growth in our community and our society. Please help us to be effective in sharing the gospel. We pray that we will be fruitful. Give us wisdom to know when to speak and when to act. We pray for the church in Albany and the surrounding areas to be effective in the demonstration of the gospel in both word and deed. Give us a heart to pray, share and work for You.

Friday Prayer:

January 28, 2016 10:08 PM by Dan

My son, do not forget my teaching,
    but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
    and bring you peace and prosperity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
    in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight              Proverbs 3:1-6

Lord you ask us to deeply remember you always. That we would even etch our heart with your word. You have our hearts Lord. We pray for more insight into Your ways. Your truth surpasses any human understanding. We can't do this life and see change in this city and state on our own. We need You... please, please help us and show Your power in changing of city, state and nation dear Lord. Teach us all Your ways.

Friday Prayer: Lord of the Sabbath

January 21, 2016 10:26 PM by Dan

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent? I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”                                                                                                                                                                                  Matt. 12:1-8

Lord, we know you want real faith from us. Sincere faith. Not ritual. Help we the church of the Mid Willamette Valley see the rituals we have built instead of the real faith we should have. Help us to spend time in prayer with You. Help us to have ears to hear and eyes to see the direction that you would have for us. Let us live out our faith boldly in the face of the religious and the unbeliever. Thank you for your presence in our lives. We cannot really live without You.
