Friday Prayer: Pray for the Weary

October 29, 2015 11:14 PM by Dan

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  Matt. 11:28-29

Lord, today we pray for those who do not know you, who haven't sought you and come to you for rest. There are many in our town and region who simply have never read the Bible or attended a church or had someone share the truth with them. They are lonely, tired, weak and wondering what this life is about. Lord help your church to respond to the call to witness and to share the truth with many. Help us to share with this world hope and vision and rest in You.

Friday Prayer: What are You Doing Here?

October 22, 2015 10:20 PM by Dan

The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”  So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. There he went into a cave and spent the night.  And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”  1 Kings 19:7-10

So many have retreated like Elijah Lord.  They are hiding in the caves of their dens and shops and garages. Once valiant Christians, now they are isolated from you, hardly ever looking at Your Word or praying. Awaken them Lord. Ask them the question, what are they doing there. Get them out of their caves and into the sunlight hearing Your voice by reading Your word and believing in You and praying to You. Today we pray for Christians to return to You, to be restored, strengthened and ready for the battles ahead. Awaken the church in Albany and the surrounding areas dear Lord, we ring the bells of prayer to awaken them this day.

Friday Prayer: Not Alone

October 15, 2015 10:28 PM by Dan

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”  John 8:29

Your words Lord are an encouragement to us in that we know because of our relationship with You that we also are never alone.  We thank You for being willing to be with us in the good and bad, happy and sad.  Thank you that you are wanting to share truth and understanding for those of us that have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to accept it. Thank you for being here in Your Holy Spirit.

Friday Prayer: Heart Filled with Worship

October 1, 2015 10:57 PM by Dan

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 5:15-20

Lord, how can we keep from singing. You are the most important understanding of our lives. You have given your life for us and through redemption in that sacrifice we have peace and hope in this world. Help us to follow your instruction. Help us to hear your voice today. We pray for the church in Albany to sing out for You in their lives.

Friday Prayer: See and Hear

September 17, 2015 10:39 PM by Dan

In a very short time, will not Lebanon be turned into a fertile field
and the fertile field seem like a forest?
In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll,
and out of gloom and darkness
the eyes of the blind will see.
Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord;
the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
The ruthless will vanish,
    the mockers will disappear,
and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down—
those who with a word make someone out to be guilty,
who ensnare the defender in court
and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.  Isaiah 29:17-21

Lord, you desire for this whole earth to be made well. For evil to be cast away and for justice to prevail.  We ask today on behalf of Albany and all the surrounding cities to let your rightness come to this place.  We pray for your power and your strength to influence the lives of Christians throughout this valley. For those who are weak to be made strong. For those who don't see so well to see clearly. For those who don't hear so well to hear clearly. Help us in our pursuits and work to be able and whole. We pray for your anointing dear Lord.

Friday Prayer: Unveiled Faces

September 3, 2015 9:57 PM by Dan

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

                                                                             2 Corinthians 3:12-18

In our city there are many who have veiled their freedom.  There are those who have turned away from the Lord and those who never sought him. You who are reading this post, maybe you've never considered accepting Christianity as your faith. There is hope in the Lord. There is His Spirit who comforts and cleanses and restores. You can receive Him now. Dear Lord, we accept You as our reason for living. Our very breath comes from You and we receive that power and freedom. Forgive us our sins and no longer hold our mistakes and foolish decisions against us.  Give us your hope strength to face this new day. Amen.

Friday Prayer: Purify

August 27, 2015 10:27 PM by Dan

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 Corinthians 7:1

Purify our hearts Lord. Cleanse us and make us new and ready for Your work to be done through us. Forgive us our sins.  Forgive us our failures. Help us to go beyond them to good works.  Give us understanding of what is the best work for us to do for You. Bless our efforts as we work in the direction of good. Give the saints in Albany, OR fresh insight of the things You want them to do.

Friday Prayer: Forgive Your People

August 20, 2015 10:25 PM by Dan

“When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near; and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you. 2 Chronicles 36-39

Thank you for hearing Solomon's prayer Lord.  Because of the group's repentant heart You immediate poured your glory on Your people and on the temple Solomon had built.  I ask you Lord to pour out your glory on Your people today, even more so since we are the temple that You inhabit.  Give us wisdom to hear, see and do what you are commanding.  Help us to get past ourselves and our own selfish desires. Give us vision to see how You want the church in this area to move, live and have it's shape. Let us be used by you dear Lord... pour into us the ability to be useful.

Friday Prayer: Revealed by the Spirit

August 13, 2015 10:42 PM by Dan

However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,

and what no human mind has conceived”
the things God has prepared for those who love him—

these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  1 Cor. 2:9-10

We love you Father. Help us to look to Your Holy Spirit here in this life.  Give us a heart to pray and then to listen through revelation in our lives.  Give us this perception through prayer to experience things that we have not previously understood.  Much like Saul becoming Paul as the scales fell off of his eyes, help us to see Your truth for the first time. Let the church of Albany be led by Your Holy Spirit.

Friday Prayer: Interceding for Us

July 30, 2015 10:51 PM by Dan

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Lord, I thank You for Your praying for us, asking the Father about us. Thank you. I thank You that You draw us to prayer, giving us Your heart. Please come into our midst more often reminding us to pray for others. Help us to be reminded of prayer and to always be praying. Help us win hearts in our neighbors, at our workplace, in the marketplace and at home. Let our concern for others cause a regular time of lifting of prayer and request before you.
