Friday Prayer: Revealed by the Spirit

August 13, 2015 10:42 PM by Dan

However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,

    and what no human mind has conceived”
    the things God has prepared for those who love him—

these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  1 Cor. 2:9-10

We love you Father. Help us to look to Your Holy Spirit here in this life.  Give us a heart to pray and then to listen through revelation in our lives.  Give us this perception through prayer to experience things that we have not previously understood.  Much like Saul becoming Paul as the scales fell off of his eyes, help us to see Your truth for the first time. Let the church of Albany be led by Your Holy Spirit.

Friday Prayer: Interceding for Us

July 30, 2015 10:51 PM by Dan

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Lord, I thank You for Your praying for us, asking the Father about us. Thank you. I thank You that You draw us to prayer, giving us Your heart. Please come into our midst more often reminding us to pray for others. Help us to be reminded of prayer and to always be praying. Help us win hearts in our neighbors, at our workplace, in the marketplace and at home. Let our concern for others cause a regular time of lifting of prayer and request before you.

Friday Prayer: Armor of God

July 23, 2015 10:17 PM by Dan

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Eph. 6:10-12

We thank you Lord for your protection. You surround us in our knowledge of You, our trust in You, our decision for You. Living with You and for You is what brings us strength and safety from the enemy. We pray today that the church in Albany would apply the armor of God every day. Let our acknowledgement of Your covering be the start of each day.

Friday Prayer: Jars of Clay

July 16, 2015 10:25 PM by Dan

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Cor. 4:4-7

Lord, you have given treasure to jars of clay... for those who will accept it and receive the gift. We pray for your wisdom and insight to open the hearts and minds and eyes of those in our towns.  May they receive the truth of the gospel and understand it. Let their eyes be open to the truth. Let them see who You are.... our Savior... our only hope. In this world where life is so short, where our days are numbered, let those who have not made the connection to You, Father, Spirit and Son... let them get it.  Let them see.  We pray for the unsaved in Albany and the surrounding area, that they may receive Your witness and receive You.

Friday Prayer: Keep Witnessing

July 9, 2015 10:01 PM by Dan

As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”  Acts 24:5

Felix was afraid of being confronted by the truth that Paul knew so well and shared so readily.  Today I pray for the Church in Albany that we would continue to be a witness for You dear Lord.  That our light would shine brightly before the world that we live in.  Keep our attitudes and our hearts good. Our conscience clean. Motivate us Lord by allowing us to see the opportunity to share the gospel with those that you have placed around us.  Let us be a testament of love and kindness, integrity and faithfulness.  Righteousness and self-control.

Friday Prayer: Our Temple

June 25, 2015 10:32 PM by Dan

When Solomon had finished building the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had achieved all he had desired to do, the Lord appeared to him a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. The Lord said to him:“I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there."  Solomon 9:1-3

Solomon is a good reminder to us of your steadfast love.  How you heard His prayers.  So also You hear our prayers!  You asked His Father David to have Him to build a temple. In our lives You tell us we are that temple.  You want fellowship with us just like with Solomon. Help us dear Lord to be stronger than Solomon.  Not to turn away from You or ever fail to give praise, worship and prayer to You.  Help us to seek You each and every day of our lives.  Never forgetting to honor You.  Never forgetting the gift You've given us in this life, and the most important gift, the understanding of the scripture and who Jesus is.  Bless the church in Albany in understanding who Chirst is and what our lives should be about.

Friday Prayer: The Spirit's Power

June 18, 2015 11:03 PM by Dan

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Lord, we often lose sight of the power that is available to us via the Holy Spirit. Give us a mind to keep our thoughts on You and the power that You bring into our lives. You are mighty beyond our most complete understanding of might. When we look at the sheer power of the universe, You are greater than that. Why do we depend on our own abilities? Why do we fail to rely on You?  Today, give us a stronger belief than yesterday, and tomorrow, give us a stronger belief than today.  Help us to use Your Spirit's power to awaken us, awaken the church around us and give understanding to unbelievers throughout the Willamette Valley and Oregon. Give Your power to Your church here in Albany.

Friday Prayer: The Spirit's Voice

June 4, 2015 10:22 PM by Dan

 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.  All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16:12-15

We pray to hear the Spirit's voice this morning. We pray for truth and understanding. Help us to receive from you dear God, a word, an encouragement, a direction to go.  Reveal to us where we fit in Your plan.  We pray for the church of Albany to embrace You and Your voice dear Holy Spirit.  Speak to Your church here in Albany.

Friday Prayer: Lost

May 28, 2015 9:43 PM by Dan

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? Luke 15:4

Lord, we frown at the lost, but they are your objective. We don't live to care for the healthy, we live to care for the hurting, the confused, the strays... in an effort to save some. Give us strength to live out a life of caring and sharing with the lost, confused and hurting.  Give us opportunities this week to witness your gospel, one person at a time to many.  Give us many good circumstances to share your truth. Go before us Lord and prepare the way.

Friday Prayer: Provision

May 21, 2015 10:13 PM by Dan

Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant forever.  Psalm 111:2-5

Thank you for your provision in our lives O Lord. You have brought us through hardships and difficulty. Provided a way when there was no road. Provided food when the cupboard was bare. Given us peace in trials. Counseled us when we had no understanding. Your provision is great. Help us to be more sensitive to understanding your ways in our life. Our times are in Your hands.
