Friday Prayer: Do Not Worry

August 15, 2013 11:21 PM by Dan

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  Matt. 6:31-34

Dear Lord forgive us.  So often we worry about things that we can not do anything about.  So often we look to our own resources rather than yours.  We know that you are the supplier of all good things.  We know that you will care for us regardless how things appear.  Help us to trust in you and to rely in you like never before.  Help us to seek you each day, all the day long, seeing your blessing with us.  Help us to be aware of your presence even when things look like they are failing.  Thank you for your care and concern for us Lord.

Friday Prayer - Bearing Fruit

August 8, 2013 9:39 PM by Dan

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.                                                                                                                                  John 15:1-8

Dear Lord, without You we can do nothing.  We can make plans and stage events, but without remaining in You we will wither and die.  Lord we desire not to just be green and healthy, but we want to bear fruit.  We desire to bear fruit abundantly in this place where we live.  Here in Albany and in the mid-Willamette valley.  We look to the grace and strength You bring us to accomplish whatever task You have placed before each believer here in the valley.  We need Your strength.  We need Your Spirit.  We need Your Power.  Help us to see a world bigger than our everyday routine.  Where there is an opportunity to produce fruit by living in relationship with You and effecting the world with that constant experiencing of Your love.

Friday Prayer - The Right Stuff

August 1, 2013 10:00 PM by Dan

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  Colossians 3:12-17

Dear Lord, help us to understand what this scripture really means to us individually.  Let us walk out our life like You did.  A living sacrifice.  Willing to live only for the Father by understanding Your love.  Help us to keep love, right agape love, at the forefront of our thinking.  Help our self-will to be dead.  Help our hearts and minds to be set on You and what You want for us in our lives.  We know Your plans are good plans and You desire for us walk in those plans.  Help us not to get side-tracked or caught up in unimportant matters. Help us to keep our relationship and love for You the most important thing in our lives.

Friday AM Prayer Focus - Voice of Melody

July 25, 2013 10:10 PM by Dan

“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness,
You who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were hewn,
And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.
Look to Abraham your father,
And to Sarah who bore you;
For I called him alone,
And blessed him and increased him.”

For the Lord will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody   Isaiah 51:1-3

Dear Lord we have great joy because of Your Son.  A voice of melody and a voice of praise comes from within us.  Thank you that our lives went from a wilderness to a garden.  You have brought us to a place of great peace because of Your Word fulfilled in Christ.  Give us an acute sense of hearing what the Spirit is saying to us each day as we live in You.   Give us sight beyond the normal things of this world.  Let us see things as You want us to see them.  Bless we Your church in this valley with an understanding of joy beyond what we knew the day before.

Friday Prayer - Our Hope is in You Lord

July 11, 2013 10:36 PM by Dan

Your hands made me and formed me;
give me understanding to learn your commands.
May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,
for I have put my hope in your word.
I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous,
and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
May your unfailing love be my comfort,
according to your promise to your servant.
Let your compassion come to me that I may live,
for your law is my delight.  Psalm 119:73-77

Lord we cannot survive a minute without You. Each day that passes is a miracle of incredible proportion, but we spend our lives so limited when we do not walk with You in the day. Help us to understand and experience You more each day dear Lord. Help us to understand Your word more each day. What it really means for us personally. Give us a vision and heart for the future and help us to walk it out with You.
