Wednesday AM Prayer Focus: Faith Holds our Future

January 4, 2012 8:16 AM by Gene

I will direct their work in truth,  And will make with them an everlasting covenant. Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles, And their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them,
That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Isaiah 61:9-11

Dear Lord, help us to forget the former things and look forward to the glorious future with You.  Help us to experience our future with You today, by praying and contemplating what You have for us today.  Let us not be tripped up by our past or the things that we used to be or used to do.  Help us to see that our faith holds our future, help us to focus on the things ahead.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17

Lord as you have made us new... we pray for the best year ever for us this year 2012.

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus: Sin Dishonors God

November 22, 2011 7:31 AM by Gene

But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:8-10

Lord we ask that our lives would reflect Your life, not the life of the failure to control our tongues. Not this failure of sin. Give us Your love and truth instead.  Let it replace our mistakes, our short-comings and our failures.  We praise You for the opportunity to start out the day in an attitude of blessing.  You know precisely every second of our lives.  You have it all in control.  If I am not blessing, I am dishonoring You. Let me chose to rejoice in this day, all the day long and be glad in it!

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus: The Unrivaled Power of Prayer

November 8, 2011 7:52 AM by Gene

Romans 8:26-28  New King James Version (NKJV)

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is,because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Praise You this morning dear Lord. We ask for Your Holy Spirit in our weakness. Please make intercession for us according to Your will O Lord. This day. This hour. We lift up the outreach to the LBCC campus to You dear Lord. Bless our efforts. Hear our prayers for success in sharing the gospel. Open the ears, minds and hearts of those who come to speak to us. Thank You dear God.

November 1, 2011 8:41 AM by Gene

Matthew 28:19  New King James Version (NKJV)

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Father help us to be successful in the mission You gave us. You want us to share the gospel with all nations.  Help us to do Your work here on this earth. Thank you. Amen

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus: Ordinary made Extraordinary

October 25, 2011 8:24 AM by Gene

1 Corinthians 9:22

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.

Paul's whole heart and mind and soul were taken up with the great matter of what Jesus Christ came to do. He never lost sight of that one thing.  We have to face ourselves with the central fact: Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  The Word tells us... "I have chosen you." God is at work, bending, breaking, moulding and doing just as He choses.

Dear Lord let us be a willing lump of clay... wanting to be molded and changed by Your Word, through the power of Your Holy Spirit.

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus - Cast out scoffing

September 13, 2011 7:49 AM by Gene

Proverbs 22:10

Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; Yes, strife and reproach will cease.

Lord, help us to walk in Your ways and avoid the ways that are contrary to Your will. Please grant Your grace to us to watch over our words that they will be pleasing to You and edifying to those around us.

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus - Valley of Vision

September 6, 2011 7:45 AM by Gene

Isaiah 55:11

so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Lord, wherever we go and whatever we are doing, help us take Your word with us, help us share it in Your love, and bring forth Your purposes.

The Valley of Vision

August 30, 2011 7:45 AM by Gene

The Valley of Vision

Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see Thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold Thy glory. Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter Thy stars shine; let me find Thy light in my darkness, Thy life in my death, Thy joy in my sorrow, Thy grace in my sin, Thy riches in my poverty, Thy glory in my valley.

Taken from The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions, edited by Arthur Bennett

Psalm 133 (NIV)

A song of ascents. Of David.

1 How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!

2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,
   running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon
   were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the LORD bestows his blessing,
   even life forevermore.

Lord, thank You for giving us Your vision for our valley, for uniting us together in one accord, and working among us to accomplish Your purposes. Grant us willing hearts to obey the vision that You give.

Tuesday AM Prayer Focus - Ask for Nations

August 16, 2011 7:41 AM by Gene

Psalm 2:8  (NKJV)

Ask of Me, and I will give You
         The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

Lord, thank You for many people who You have raised up to go out locally and internationally to proclaim the Good News. We ask You for more people to be brought into your kingdom all over the earth. Pour out Your Spirit over Albany as half a dozen churches come together from around the state to train and send out hundreds of workers on 8/27/11 to proclaim the Gospel here.
